MTC Added to Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders List
Because of their commitment to sustainable practices, MTC has been added to the EPA’s Climate Leaders Partnership Program. As a Climate Leaders Partner, they have voluntarily agreed to become a key component in the country’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by developing a corporate-wide GHG inventory and by setting an aggressive emissions reduction goal.
MTC is reaching this goal through increasing fuel efficiency, switching to low-carbon fuels, reducing vehicle miles traveled, and optimizing vehicle choice. With typical high-volume corporate livery vehicles generating up to 50 tons of CO2 in a year, they are reducing the net effect of their emissions to zero by year end.
Launched in 2002, EPA’s Climate Leaders Partnership is an industry/government alliance that works to develop long-term corporate climate change strategies. Climate Leaders Partners set a corporate-side GHG reduction goal and inventory emissions to measure progress. They identify themselves as corporate environmental leaders and strategically position themselves as climate change policies continue to evolve. Climate Leaders Partners represent a variety of sectors, from heavy manufacturing to transportation and retail. These companies strive to set the standard for GHG management in their sectors, and more broadly in the U.S. economy.
