Happily Ever After: A Wedding Limo Story

Mar, 26 2009

The day began as any other, with the alarm ringing at six and the coffee percolating in the kitchen. However, today was not a normal day. Today was her wedding. Sarah rolled out of bed in eager anticipation of the events of the day. As she took her last shower as a single woman, her thoughts raced back to an evening about six months before...

Sarah did not know what the evening was going to bring. Todd had asked her to be ready at six, and to wear her black evening gown. They were theater lovers, so she was sure the evening would include the new play that had just opened downtown. Surprises were not uncommon with Todd, so she faced the evening with great anticipation.

Promptly at six the doorbell rang. Her heart stopped when she opened the door. There was Todd, but not in his normal suit. He was dressed in a perfectly fitting jet black tux, complete with tails. She knew in an instant this was not going to be a normal date.

As she walked outside, her breath caught in her throat. There, parked in the driveway, was a stretch limo. The driver stood calmly by the open door. As they entered, three dozen red roses were sitting on her seat. The fragrance from the flowers was intoxicating, but all she noticed was the deep green of Todd’s eyes, which did not leave her face the entire time.

Even though there was plenty of room in the limo, they cuddled close the entire ride. They pulled up with flair to the theater and watched a performance of the latest local play. They were slightly overdressed, but Sarah did not care. The evening was already unfolding to be the perfect one.

After the play, the limo driver took them to their next spot. With the tinted windows, Sarah was not quite sure where they were headed, but when the driver opened the door, she knew instantly. It was the park where they had once had their first date. Nearly strangers at the time, they had instantly connected as they walked along the lakeside path.

Todd took her hand and the chauffeur handed him a basket. They walked along the same path they had once traveled as strangers meeting for the first time. As they walked, they talked about the evolution of their relationship. They stopped halfway through the walk to enjoy a glass of the wine that was in the basket.

Soon they were back at the limo, and when they sat down, the roses were gone. In their place was a small present addressed to Sarah. The driver carefully pointed it out when they got in. As she opened it, Todd dropped to one knee inside the limo, and said,

“Sarah, you are the only one that matters to me. You are the only woman I can imagine spending my entire life with, and without you my life is empty. Will you marry me?”

Sarah’s sweet, passionate kiss told Todd what the answer was.

On her wedding day, Sarah lovingly recalled this romantic evening. The limo was such an important part of the marriage proposal that they had booked the same car and driver for their wedding limousine. The happy couple could not imagine a better way to drive away from the ceremony than in the same limo where their life together began. Their wedding limousine would be the perfect getaway car.

Sarah smiled as she entered the church, dress in hand, ready for the happiest day of her life.
